Patent on cordless power tools and accessories?
For combo cordless power tool sets, there are many accessories the manufacturer promotes – the drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, small vacuum, light, radio, etc.
If someone comes up with another tool that can be used, using the same batteries of a combo pack, can a patent be obtained for that idea?
Hypothetically speaking, lets say the radio for use in combination, with a specific brand power tool set has not been done before. Obviously, the radio is not new, nor is a battery powered radio. The idea of designing a radio to be powered by the same batteries used for the other accessories may be new and be allowed patent protection.
I have been doing some patent searching, but I’m having difficulty in narrowing the search down.
Any suggests on finding the patents on these manufacturers as it might relate to my situation?
Does it seem possible to get a patent like this, and how would I specify the claims?
How would I approach manufactures after filing?
Thanks.
Craftsman Portable Power Drill…are these just disposable???
So my 5 year old Craftsman 14.4v drill is starting to not hold power. I put the batteries in the charger and after a few minutes the red light is out. Leaving them all night produces only a little charge, just enough to tease. So I don’t know if it’s the batteries or charger.
So I go to Sears and find batteries are .99 and a charger is also . That’s over 0 to replace what I have in batteries and the charger
There is a 14.4v drill on sale with charger, two batteries and a case for . Duh!
Should I just expect to buy a new one every few years?
It’s just used for light duty around the house and it worked great for several years.
I have a heavy duty corded drill for actual drilling projects.
Convert a Battery powered tool to a plug-in tool?
I got these battery tools a few years ago and the cells are useless now. I get less than 15 minutes of play on each battery pack. Got 2 batteries so I want to convert 1 to the plug-in type. Gut the pack and connect leads from a female standard dc connector (which I’ll mount to the exterior of the pack) to the internal leads.
Question is this: 19.2 Volt battery that uses a charger that pumps out 1.5 amps. There is no other info available on the battery. The volt meter gives me strange readings for output amps. What kind of DC adapter do you guys think would work?
I got this laptop variable DC adapter 10-25V and 3 amps (max 75 Watts) but it has a regulator built in and every time I hit the trigger on the drill the adapter shuts off.
